Critical Speed (CS) = highest velocity maintainable without progressive fatigue accumulation. The aerobic power ceiling — equivalent to VLa4 measured from race performance.
D′ (D-prime) = total anaerobic work capacity above CS. The size of the "fast-twitch battery" — how far the horse can go above CS before fatiguing.
Model: Distance = CS × Time + D′
